Empowering Youth for Gender Equality through Art and Activism!

The Take pART! Digital Map is a community mapping platform putting into relation physical space and artivistic art of anyone who wants to share their stories and artwork related to gender equality. Designed as an interactive archive, it invites users to share their personal stories related to gender equality (including videos, images, and audio) by selecting a geographical location on the map and uploading their content. This digital map not only showcases artivistic performances but also aims to increase awareness concerning the topic in an innovative way. We invite you to share your artwork and make your voice heard for a more equal world ! Please note that the artwork shared must by either done by yourself or found and freely accessible in the public space (such as streetart). This map has been developed as a part of an Erasmus+ project aiming to combine the concepts of art, psychotherapy, and activism. In addition to the map, two free training booklets have been developed to educators on the themes of art therapy and artivism and can be downloaded from this platform.

Inspiring Youth to Lead Change for Gender Equality through Art and Action

The Take pART! project is an innovative initiative aimed at fostering active citizenship and a sense of initiative among young people, particularly in the realm of gender equality. By integrating artistic, psychological, and activist practices within the non-formal education sector, the project seeks to empower youth and provide a platform for their voices, especially those of vulnerable individuals with a focus on women.

Develop and pilot programs that use Art Therapy techniques to empower vulnerable women.

Equip youth workers and EU organizations with the skills and methodologies to integrate Art Therapy and Artivism, focusing on gender perspectives.

The Take pART! project leverages the integration of art, psychology, and activism within the non-formal education sector to promote active citizenship and a sense of initiative among youth, particularly concerning gender equality. Central to this initiative are Art Therapy and Artivism, which are used as powerful tools for self-expression and empowerment. Art Therapy is particularly valuable as it offers therapeutic benefits, allowing individuals to express emotions without words, process complex feelings, and find relief. This approach facilitates a dialogue between vulnerable individuals and professionals, fostering a supportive environment for personal growth and empowerment.

Specifically, the project aims to design and test Art Therapy techniques to empower vulnerable women, helping them articulate their feelings and assert their rights. Youth workers and EU organizations are equipped with competencies in these methodologies, including gender-sensitive approaches, documentary photography, and social empowerment through art. The project implements five distinct Art Therapy paths and develops a comprehensive booklet on gender and Art Therapy, ultimately contributing to high-quality youth work and driving social transformation.

The Role of Artivism in the Take pART! Project

The Take pART! project uses the transformative power of art and activism, or Artivism, to empower vulnerable women and youth, promoting active citizenship and gender equality. Art, whether created or enjoyed, provides numerous benefits including self-discovery, self-esteem, emotional release, and stress relief. The project combines art, psychotherapy, and activism to offer a therapeutic and communicative outlet for participants, enabling them to express emotions, process complex feelings, and find relief in a supportive environment. Art Therapy facilitates a dialogue between individuals and professionals, fostering self-awareness and personal growth.

Building on these therapeutic benefits, Artivism takes the insights and expressions derived from art therapy and channels them into messages and scenarios that advocate for social change. By designing and testing pathways that utilize Artivism techniques, the project promotes active youth participation in gender equality policies and transformative social actions. This approach not only empowers participants but also encourages them to engage in gender-sensitive communication and advocacy, creating positive portrayals of equality and equal opportunities for all genders. Through workshops in storytelling, filmmaking, podcast production, and documentary photography, youth are equipped to become active protagonists of social change, using their creative performances to highlight and address gender equality issues. The initiative also provides youth workers and EU organizations with the skills and methodologies to integrate Artivism into their practices, ensuring a lasting impact on social inclusion and empowerment.
